Meet the Teachers
Alisha Sell--I have been married for 11 yrs. We have 4 wonderful kids and often take in exchange students, so at times have more! My husband, David Sell, is very supportive and helpful with all my dancing and other aspirations. My students always ask me how long I have been dancing. My mom was my first dance teacher and taught while pregnant with me. So, I always tell them, ‘I started dancing while in my mommy’s tummy!’ HA! I’ve seriously danced and performed my entire life. I’ve been teaching ever since I can remember but professionally teaching for 19 yrs. I got my degree at BYUI in Dance and BYU in Recreation Therapy and Psychology. I danced for numerous dance teams as a kid, at BYUI and UVSU. I was also a Teacher’s assistant and team president at BYUI, taught for church, Olympic Gym, Arthur Murray, Dance Barn, Great Events, etc. I’ve owned my own dance group since 2006 and then opened my home studio in summer of 2009. I still rent space for my larger team and classes. Although I was trained in all areas of dance to some degree, my favorite genres are ballroom, Latin, swing, hip hop, dance lifts, country, creative, and lyrical. I love working with children. I absolutely love to dance and love teaching!
Brooke Day currently teaches ballet/jazz, kids ballroom, hip hop, and assists in the Tot class and company team. She graduated from ASU studying Human and Family Development and Dance. Her goal is to become an Elementary school Psychologist and continue teaching dance. Brooke took ballet for years. Brooke also is the assistant on our company Senior Ballroom team and has been for 3 years (and still counting). She enjoys working with children. “Being on the Ballroom team is where I’ve really learned to love ballroom dance. It is there that I discovered that my passion for dance is so strong that I have got to dance everyday! I love to share my skills and talent with others, like your children!”
Sayla Sutton assists for one of our combo classes. She has been dancing for five years with her school Heritage Academy! She loves dancing and loves teaching children! She had been teaching a martial arts class for children ages four to twelve for two to three years and has always wanted to teach dance to little girls and is very happy for the chance she had gotten at Resonate Dance Studio. Her favorite genres of dance are ballroom and ballet. She says, " I can remember when I was a little girl and my mother would take me to see the Nutcracker Ballet! I was so entranced by the dancers, especially those en pointe! I also remember watching Dancing with the Stars on T.V. and constantly wanting to know how they did the dances so beautifully! Then I finally got to learn for myself!!"
Jean Bingham is currently an assistant at Resonate Dance and also dances for our Resonate Ballroom Dance Company! She is studying Theatre Education at MCC and has been dancing since she was eight years old, specializing in jazz, lyrical, and ballroom. She has also performed in multiple plays and musicals. Her greatest passion is performing, especially on the stage. Ever since she was little she has wanted to be a teacher of the arts, whether it's acting or dancing. "I love children, dancing, and teaching. I'm so honored to have this opportunity to begin my teaching career and to work with your children. I'm hoping I can inspire confidence and creativity in each one of them." She also has educational plans to study dance at BYU.
Cortney Vasilis currently assists in our ballet/jazz class. She says, "I have been dancing for as long as I can remember and along with that, I sing and I have performed on stage in musicals and plays. My favorite genres of dance are ballet and jazz, especially because of the opportunity for expression and energy. Since I was three years old, I have been working with kids and getting to know how wonderful the rising generation is. So many children are gifted and promising; it never ceases to amaze me. After graduation in May, I plan to attend CGCC and study dance and other performing arts. I am absolutely ecstatic for the opportunity brought to me by the Resonate Dance Studio and hope to take my experiences with me as I learn more about dance."
